About Little Scoop Co.

A family company telling the truth — one scoop at a time.

We're a homeschool family raising four boys. When our oldest turned 15 and asked to get a job, we realized we hadn't taught him half of what he needed to know about money, taxes, and the real world. Not because we weren't paying attention — because the resources didn't exist the way we needed them to. Honest. Unbiased. Practical. Built for a kid who was almost ready for the real world.

So we did what homeschool families do. We built it ourselves.

Then our four-year-old asked why I had to work so much — and we realized the conversation needs to start much earlier.

Why we start early

Most young adults leave home having never read a paycheck, opened a brokerage account, or had a real conversation about how taxes work, why prices rise, or how a government actually spends. Financial literacy isn't a luxury subject — it's one of the most practical things we can give our kids. And the kids who get it early are the ones who walk into the world ready.

The same goes for the harder conversations — capitalism and socialism, civic responsibility, the trade-offs behind every policy. These topics don't get less complicated if we wait. They get louder. The earlier a young person learns to sit with a hard question, hear two sides honestly, and form their own view, the better equipped they are when the world hands them a sharper version of that same question at 16, or 26, or 46.

We'd rather spark those conversations at the kitchen table — over a story about ice cream — than leave them to a feed, a headline, or a classroom that only tells one side.

What we make

We publish four kinds of products, designed to work together:

🍦 Interactive ebooks — story-led, character-driven, built to read on any device.

📓 Student workbooks — vocabulary, check-ins, activities, and reflection. Print-friendly, classroom-friendly.

👩‍🏫 Parent & teacher guides — answer keys, discussion prompts, pacing schedules, and the canonical "Staying Balanced" section that helps adults teach contested topics fairly.

🎓 Triple Scoop courses — full curricula for ages 14–18. Currently serving Before You Fly Away, the year-long course that walks teens through everything they'll face the day they leave home.

The Scoop System

Four reading tiers, one philosophy: tell the truth, treat kids like they can handle it.

🍨 Half Scoop (ages 4–6) Coming Soon! — Gentle read-alouds that introduce big ideas through Ellie and Donnie. For the little ones already asking.

🍦 Single Scoop (ages 7–10) — First-taste stories that introduce big ideas through the town of Sweetville.

🍦🍦 Double Scoop (ages 11–14) — Deeper dives that hand kids real concepts and ask them to wrestle with the mechanics.

🍦🍦🍦 Triple Scoop (ages 14–18) — Full courses and capstones that prepare older students for the real-world systems they're about to enter.

Every book and every course is framed around one signature question: 🍦 What's the Scoop? By the last page, the reader can answer it in their own words.

What we promise

Both sides. Every time.

When a topic has more than one reasonable answer, we give you more than one reasonable answer — written from inside each view, not as a setup for the one we secretly prefer. We don't advocate. We don't nudge. We trust kids to think.

That's the whole reason we started this. The world has plenty of voices telling our children what to believe. We'd rather teach them how to think — and let them do the rest.

Who it's for

Homeschool families. Classroom teachers. Co-ops. Grandparents. Anyone who believes kids deserve honest, unbiased information — on money, civic life, and how the real world actually works — and the practical tools to steward it well.
